Lovely little ABC books with a great range and diversity of fantastic female icons。 Great illustrations and awesome vocab words to teach the little rockstars in your life。

In honor of March being Women’s History Month I read this book to my 6 week old son。 I wanted to start him off early in his feminist path and respect for women。 I would say this book is geared more towards little girls (last page being a mirror) but no reason it cannot be read and appreciated by little boys as well。 Reading is a great way to introduce people of all different backgrounds and I’m excited to introduce said people to my son through reading。 Overall this is an adorable book that intr In honor of March being Women’s History Month I read this book to my 6 week old son。 I wanted to start him off early in his feminist path and respect for women。 I would say this book is geared more towards little girls (last page being a mirror) but no reason it cannot be read and appreciated by little boys as well。 Reading is a great way to introduce people of all different backgrounds and I’m excited to introduce said people to my son through reading。 Overall this is an adorable book that introduces little readers to some awesome women of all different backgrounds and occupations。 。。。more

Fun, feminist alphabet book that is beloved by my little daughters。

I really enjoyed this book and all of the inspirational women depicted throughout the pages。 From Elizabeth Tudor to Oprah, there are women of all different backgrounds who are true role models for girls of all ages。

Let me begin by saying that I love any book that makes a point to spotlight courageous and dignified women。 Like a few other reviews stated, I would have liked to have seen names of less common and equally influential women on some of the pages。 The missing XYZ was a very disappointing element to this book。 I really felt that that was a lazy effort but either way books like these belong in the hands of young readers!

Such a fun take on ABC board books! The art is very bright and engaging。 The introductions to each woman are short and sweet, but still provide information and references, and even quotes! I like the size and the 24th person a lot too! An awesome book indeed :)

Somehow this book is like peak white feminism。 It would have been nice if the author had taken longer than 10 seconds to make the selection。 It's for my baby though, not me, so who cares。 Somehow this book is like peak white feminism。 It would have been nice if the author had taken longer than 10 seconds to make the selection。 It's for my baby though, not me, so who cares。 。。。more

A is for awesome empowerment of women in a Children’s book that is accessible and clear for young readers, however, this is not something to be read alone by a child and requires guidance as there’s a lot of information going on here。 Mirror was a nice touch。

Fun illustrations and a good start of a collection of female figures who are recognized for a variety of accomplishments。 My main quibbles are choosing the goddess Venus for the letter V instead of a person and none for X,Y,Z。 Venus Williams, Vera Wang, Viola Davis, Virginia Apgar, etc。 there are plenty of options。

Copyright © 2019, Biography, Feminism, Girl Power, HistoryI liked this book because it talks about all the great things women have done。 I will use this book a way to encourage girls to know that they can do great things too。

Lbsantini

Loved the quotes in this book。

Laura

Agreed with the reviewer below, such a missed opportunity leaving X, Y, and Z blank。。。。

Risa

Cute little book that I’m giving to a friend as a gift。 I like the premise。 Overall, it’s good but could be better。

Jack Lewis

Very disappointing and offensive that they chose a man to not only illustrate this book but that so many of the women illustrated have unrealistic stick legs and pencil thin waistlines。 We want to see real body types that empower women of all sizes。

Logan Smith

Could have picked a better example for the letter “V”。 Otherwise great book!

Tami

Some of the women featured are well-known, others were new to me。 But, I especially love how the book ends!

Izabela

C’MON。 Nothing for X Y and Z?!? Q is for Queen Elizabeth I?! V is for Venus?! Couldn’t think of anyone real with a V name?

Yoursexylibrarian

Beautifully illustrated。 Diversity is present with half of the women depicted being races other than Caucasian。 The professions of the women are somewhat varied as well。

Caitlin

An adorable little board book I was test driving before I give it to a friend who just had a baby!

Erin Dunlavy

Zoe enjoys this one and it is a nice book to share with a little girl or boy in need of more sheroes。

Julie

This is such a fun board book featuring an awesome woman for each letter of the alphabet (except x, y, and z and it’s cute how that is handled!) Most of them feature a quote from the highlighted woman and then they all have a catchy sentence。 So not an in-depth study, but a fantastic introduction! The illustrations really make this book, too! They are so expressive! Highly recommend!!

Eric R。

I like that they have some different names than similar books to this。 I don’t know how I feel that the Roman goddess Venus is included。 I love the mirror at the end so the reader is included。

Sofia

Beautiful illustrations, great quotes, a few odd choices, but overall well done。

Sean

Absolutely love this children’s book。 Most of the women have famous quotations that are brilliant to introduce to children at story time。 The illustrations are also a great collage style。 Highly recommend adding this to your young one’s bookshelf。

Dax

Kick butt women who helped change the world!

Megan

This is a fun book for introducing women who have accomplished great things。 Some women are historical, some are modern。 Each page is relatively short, and it is set as an alphabetical list (A is for。。。, etc)。 It states something brief about each woman's accomplishments。 This is a fun book for introducing women who have accomplished great things。 Some women are historical, some are modern。 Each page is relatively short, and it is set as an alphabetical list (A is for。。。, etc)。 It states something brief about each woman's accomplishments。 。。。more

Always love girl power books! Beautiful and fun illustrations。 A diverse mix of very famous women commonly known, as well as some lesser known icons。 I imagine could be fun to research with your kids more about some of these amazing ladies。 4 stars because I think a little more explanation could be added to some women。

Kris

I liked the concept, but there were a few too many cop-outs here。 Why choose Venus, a mythological goddess, for V, when there are lots of amazing real women to pick from? Venus Williams。 Valentina Tereshkova。 Virginia Woolf。 That bugged me。 But the part that REALLY bugged me is that this is an ALPHABET book。 You can't just cop-out and not include women for X Y and Z just because it's hard。 I liked the concept, but there were a few too many cop-outs here。 Why choose Venus, a mythological goddess, for V, when there are lots of amazing real women to pick from? This book is all about girl power。 The illustrations were awesome。 I loved that quotes were included from most of the ladies in this book。 It motivates people when reading about what each person stands for。 I loved the mirror at the end。 Sometimes we need a reminder that we too can make a change in this world。 My favorite person included in this book is Iris Apfel。 I love funky fashion just like her。 She is such an inspiration。 Here is the quote included in this book "When you don't dress like e This book is all about girl power。 The illustrations were awesome。 I loved that quotes were included from most of the ladies in this book。 It motivates people when reading about what each person stands for。 I loved the mirror at the end。 Sometimes we need a reminder that we too can make a change in this world。 My favorite person included in this book is Iris Apfel。 I love funky fashion just like her。 She is such an inspiration。 Here is the quote included in this book "When you don't dress like everyone else, you don't have to think like everybody else"。 So be unique and different no matter what people might say to you for being bold, unique and different。I'm disappointing that no Hispanic ladies were included in this book。 It included some diversity but not one Hispanic person was included。 Diversity is a huge key component。 People want to feel they are represented and see someone that looks like them and be proud and see that they can make a difference too。 Standing together as one, will make us stronger。 。。。more
